Popular WHOLE-GRAIN ENERGY BAR Recipe

Here are the 6 steps to follow to make 24 squares:

  1. Preheat oven to 375° F. Line a 13 x 9-inch pan with foil by spreading two sheets of foil perpendicular to each other over the pan, with extra foil hanging over the edges. Grease the foil with cooking spray.

  2. Whisk the flour, wheat germ, granulated sugar and salt in a large bowl. Beat in 14 tablespoons of butter with an electric mixer on low until the mixture looks like wet sand, about 1½ minutes. Reserve 1¼ cups of the mixture for the topping and put the rest into the pan. Use the bottom of a measuring cup to press it into an even layer. Bake the crust until the edges begin to brown, about 14-18 minutes.

  3. Mix the reserved flour mixture with the oats, nuts, brown sugar and flax seeds. Add the remaining butter and pinch the mixture with your fingers into small clumps.

  4. In a separate bowl, lightly smash the raspberries, jam and lemon juice together.

  5. Spread the berry mixture over the hot crust and sprinkle the crumb streusel on top. Bake until golden brown, about 22-25 minutes.

  6. Let the bars cool completely in the pan. Remove bars from pan by lifting up the foil edges. Cut into 24 squares.

  1. The only thing remotly healthy in these are the flax and wheat germ providing fibre. Although most things homemade are way more healthy than store baught products, it appears that thess are packed with un natural sugar and full of butter!

  2. Whole wheat flour is good for you. Or you can use gluten free flour. and you can use coconut oil instead of butter. . Also applesauce. Organic cane juice crystals or other sweetner can be used. Try honey . There are always many ways you can adjust recipes to make them healthier.

  3. What healthy bout this nothing.g all that sugar and I do have a problem with all the butter never ever eat that much fat you think sugar free rasberry jam makes this healthy wow have you got a lot to learn about macros

  4. Love how these HEALTHY recipes never give nutritional data. So we are educated to read labels in the store, but we will just prepare and eat any recipe calling itself healthy? Yes, I’m offended. At least go to the trouble to calculate calories, fat and sugar per serving if you are selling as healthy.

  5. If something is printed to be healthy that is what it should be or the recipient should have all the different options to make it healthy. Lies all the time. The same with all the healthy naturals that are always shown in pictures and when you click on the sight it is all rubbish to make you sign up and to buy.

  6. You can make these even healthier by using gluten free oats whole and ground into flour with coffee grinder..flaxseeds and raw honey or pure maple syrup as sweetener make the jam with fresh berries and chia seeds.I do this a lot and they are phenomenal
