Mouth-Watering Homemade BANANA BREAD MUFFINS (with Chocolate Chips & Walnuts!)

 
This popular recipe makes a dozen deliciously nutty, chocolaty Walnut Chocolate-Chip Banana Bread MUFFINS, but as an alternative you can also choose to make mini-loaves or or one large loaf of this special Banana Bread.

This is a reduced-fat version of the traditional Banana Bread recipe. It’s extra moist and tender, and loaded with chocolate chips and toasted heart-healthy walnuts. There’s a wonderful taste of nuts and chocolate in each bite!

Note that these mouth-watering muffins can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 days, or in the freezer for up to 1 month.

Here are the ingredients you’ll need for 12 Walnut Chocolate-Chip Banana Bread MUFFINS (or one of the alternatives):
 
 

1 1/2 cups whole-wheat pastry flour (or whole-wheat flour)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup nonfat buttermilk
2/3 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups diced bananas
1/2 cup chopped toasted walnuts, plus more for topping if desired
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
