You can be forgiven for mistaking tangerines for mandarins. Indeed, a tangerine is the closest relative to a mandarin. The way to tell them apart from a mandarin is that they are larger in size than a mandarin, but smaller than an orange (usually the size of your fist) and their skin is a deeper shade of orange. A tangerine is sweeter and stronger than an orange, can be peeled just like a mandarin and has a larger juice to flesh ratio… which makes it perfect for juices and smoothies.
