The pretzels in this recipe might seem to be a bit strange in a protein shake, but they add a touch of salt that really brings out the chocolate and peanut butter flavors. And then using cacao nibs instead of chocolate chips in this smoothie makes it a lot healthier with more texture.<br />

Each of these homemade energy bar snacks contains 208 calories with yummy ingredients such as natural peanut butter, dates, dried cranberries and almonds. You&#8217;ll only need 10 minutes to make a batch at home in your kitchen, store in the freezer for a half-hour, then they&#8217;re ready to eat for breakfast or an afternoon snack. Perfect to munch for pre-workout energy.<br />

<p>They are high in energy, high in fiber (5.3 grams/serving), a good source of protein (4.3 grams/serving), delicious tasting.<br />

These are obviously much healthier than the store-bought energy bars filled with added sugars, stabilizers, fillers, flavors, preservatives and more junk that your body definitely doesn&#8217;t need.<br />

This recipe for <em><strong>VEGAN PB &amp; J ENERGY BARS </strong></em>serves 8:<br />

<strong>INGREDIENTS</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>1¾ cup pitted dates (soaked in warm water for 15 minutes, then drained)</li>
<li>½ cup unsweetened dried cranberries</li>
<li>¼ cup natural peanut butter (no added sugars or oils, just peanuts)</li>
<li>¼ cup whole raw almonds</li>
<li>½ cup instant plain oats (gluten free if you need!)</li>
</ul>

<p>Here are the 5 steps to make a batch of these delicious energy bar snacks:<br />

<strong>INSTRUCTIONS:</strong></p>

<li>Soak the dates in warm water for 15 minutes, and drain.</li>

<li>Place dates, dried cranberries, almonds, peanut butter, and oats in a food processor and blend until combined well.</li>

<li>Scoop mixture into a square baking pan, and firmly press down to make an even layer.</li>

<li>Place in the freezer for 30 minutes to set, then cut into 8 rectangle bars.</li>

<li>Store in the freezer or fridge.</li>

Nut butter is one of the key ingredients in this warm breakfast oatmeal recipe. This is Saskia&#8217;s favorite breakfast recipe, especially since it&#8217;s packed with protein, vitamins and minerals to start the day off with a burst of healthy energy. Extra natural sweetness comes from adding vanilla brown rice protein powder.<br />

Here&#8217;s the list of all the ingredients for this <em><strong>Protein Porridge</strong></em> recipe:<br />
</br></p>
<blockquote>
<ul>
<li>3/4 cup oats</li>
<li>1 1/2 cups oat milk</li>
<li>1 heaped tablespoon peanut butter (or other nut butter)</li>
<li>1/2 tablespoon vanilla brown rice protein powder</li>
<li>Pinch of cinnamon</li>
<li>1/2 banana</li>
</ul>

When you have all of the ingredients together, here&#8217;s how to make this healthy <em><strong>Protein Porridge:</strong></em><br />
</br></p>

<ol>
<li>Start by adding the oats and oat milk to a saucepan over a medium heat.</li>
<p></br></p>
<li>When the oat milk is hot add in all the other ingredients except the protein powder. Keep on stirring, and if it gets too hot lower the heat. (If you don’t like peanut butter, use almond or cashew!)</li>
<p></br></p>
<li>After a further 5 minutes stir in the protein powder. Stir until it’s absorbed into the porridge without any sitting on top.</li>
<p></br></p>
<li>After another 5 minutes your porridge should be ready! Pour into a bowl, top with the other half of the banana, some berries or even a further dollop of peanut butter (why not!?).</li>

Use almond milk and almond butter in this recipe to replace the dairy and the peanut butter if you want. Either way, you&#8217;ll discover that this makes a sweet, fruity and wholesome breakfast. Easy to sip on the go, and quick to make.<br />

<em>Here are the ingredients you&#8217;ll need:</em></p>
<blockquote><p>1 c milk (or almond milk)<br />
1 TB chia seeds<br />
1/4 c. old-fashioned oats<br />
1-2 TB natural peanut butter (or almond butter)<br />
