I have had more overcooked boiled eggs in my 70+ years until an old friend of mine told me a foolproof way to do them. I put a pot of water on high to bring to a boil. With a sewing pin I poke a tiny hole in the round end of the egg where the air bubble is. Once the water is boiling I put all the eggs into the water..... one egg or 12, doesn't matter. Just use a bigger pot. Put timer on 9 mins for soft boiled with yellow still a bit runny and 10 mins for hard boiled as in the picture above. When the timer goes, drain water and replace with cold water. It is the placing of eggs in cold water immediately after boiling that lets the eggs be peeled easily.

You sure can't make a hard boiled egg in 5 minutes. I've boiled a few in my 85 years. It takes a good 10 min. And the oven works well if you are doing quite a few. We all have our way and they are all right if that's what you want.
